Days have changed, and with them, the sayings too.. so now its “Both Your Eyes… and your Dad’s… and your Mom’s… and your country’s… for an Eye…

OGRA’s website was hacked last evening; I was in office when I heard this breaking news on Geo TV. At once, I searched for OGRA, and started looking for more information about this defacement. After little work I found that OGRA’s website was hacked by H M G group of script kiddies from India run by a guy call Sneak and they call themselves Guards of Hindustan and some define this group Hindu Militant Group.

I remember, it’s been a year when I spoke with the owner of this group for first time. He was just a kid then (in terms of hacking) He didn’t know much about hacking and security concerns. This guy had a group of friends, who were keen to know more and more about hacking and they intended to use their skills for fun purposes.

After one year, they managed to hack OGRA’s website, but in my opinion they are still kids. As they haven’t done good job to deface OGRA’s site – which was open for them like anything. Instead of taking control of whole website and its data, they just placed a message “Welcome HMG”

This attack should be taken as a warning message for all websites in Pakistan, specifically, in a scenario, where majority of our websites are open to hackers – these include many of Government controlled websites as well. I am not naming them, so that they may not get exposed, but believe me, our Government websites are like a video game to hacking kids.

Yesterday, another Pakistani website got hacked, http://www.pakheaven.com/anonymous-mailer.php. I am not sure, if PakHeaven’s administrator knows about this hack or not, but these hacks can’t be termed as defacement, this is normally just a warning messages from fun players to inform administrators about security flaws. By the way, Spider Magazine’s website was hacked long ago, but seems like, its administrator damn cares about any such hack or security leaks.

So website administrators, please tune up your security, and make sure that you give tough time to hackers rather than just a minute to deface them.

In response to hacking of the website of OGRA (Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority) by Indian hackers, Pakistani hackers have retaliated and hacked website of ONGC (Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd) of India. The message left by the hackers reads:

This is a message from PCA for HMG(script_kiddies) in return to the ogra defacement.

Backoff , go read some course books else you will loose both , your name and this game.
We will literally SMOKE YOUR DOORS OFF like other groups did before.

This is just a warning to Indian authorities either to launch inquiry against HMG or get ready for more action.

Really, this is sick… mistakes these days are not punished… they are capitally punished. What is the world coming too? Even in this era of Globalisation, we do not cease to be stupid. What we did as kids, we still do as adults… he has one, so i must have 5… he kicked me once, so i must kick him five times…

Yeah… its useless saying this… ask an Indian whats your creed… he’ll say smething like Hindu, Muslim, Parsi etc etc. Ask an American, he’ll say he’s an American, do the same in the UK, they feel good to say they are Irish… but even today we forget that we are Indians first and last, born of this mother, and to die serving her. If the freedom fighters were to come back to life to see all this, they would feel ashamed that they fought for the freedom of a country, or for that sake 3 countries (IN, PAK, BDESH) so that these countries could quarrel among each other, trying to get a piece of the other, or the Indians who quarrel among themselves on issues of caste, creed, religion and now states (Great Job Mr. Thackery, we need more people like you!!!).

Life is strange…

The other day I was watching a news show on a regional channel, about the talented but unprivileged people. It showed the lives of young people, no different from you or me, but just that they were not blessed with the resources that we have to help us follow our dreams. It showed how these young people, even after having cleared the entrances to study in the premier institutes of the country, could go there because they lacked the resources to finance them.

It could have been you or me in that place hadn’t we been so blessed by the holy almighty. Then we would have struggled, yet got nothing. Thats wrong…

For all those who read me and feel that this is wrong… respond to it. Lets all join hands to make this world a better place. Let us collect resources to help them atleast get a decent education. Every talented person has the right to a decent education, regardless of his birth or creed.

So that in the next life if you or I were born there, and were not as fortunate as we are today, we would atleast be sure that for all our endeavours, there would be someone to help us get the education we desire, without which the world holds nothing for us.

So continuing from where i left, it was the end semester examinations, 3rd Semester, December 2006. The weather used to be a charm then.

It was just quite like the previous exams, my morale was down, and even after putting in hours of study, i felt that some subject might get me a Summer (convention for a subject drop), especially Math. It somehow felt strange that people who studied less than me surprisingly sometimes, fared better.

The difference was just one.

We have seating arrangements of 2 students per bench made for 3 students, it was always like this, being an introvert, i avoided talking to my neighbour, but AR was different (Lets call him AR, like my music guru AR Rahman). He was jovial and had an aura of confidence about him. Never thought that such qualities could be infectious but i caught it. He became like a brother to me for 6 days of the examinations. In our pre and post exam chit chats, he did something that one seldom does in college… gave real life advice… some tips of how to do better in exams, so that life is smoother.

But i was already studying to my level best… therefore nothing would change…

Perhaps would change?

Exams got over in 6 days, then fun time, and i forgot that all this had happened…

Till things started changing…

They say that TRUTH IS STRANGER THAN FICTION.

Wrong turns are quite common in life… but right turns are surprisingly uncommon. So one day you wake up and realize that the world around you has changed…

I was just another ordinary guy at high school, with very ordinary results, some academic achievements, but other than that life was boring. For a average Indian high school guy, life starts early morning, then school throughout the day, come back in the afternoon, take a short break, go for tutions, come back home and study, have dinner, and go to sleep.

Yes, so that was as much as life had to offer… a very ordinary life… But I was a Gemini and the very monotony of life was stifling. 18 years of life… nothing much worth remebering…

College… after high school. College was also ordinary… oops, no it was extraordinary… but we’ll hear about that in another post. Again just a mediocre college student, nothing special. Even after best efforts, the only achievement was single digit maks in Math and Mechanics in the mid sems. That was the first time I lied about my marks to my mom. Strange…

Then it happened… after a year at college. They say MIRACLES HAPPEN. Oh yes, it does. Imagine a chemical reaction taking place, happens very slowly, over hours and hours, you get a reagent, that finishes it in a second.

It did happen to me too, wasn’t something as tangible as a reagent, but a friend whose aura of hope would change my life in a way thats never happened before…

However the title of the post should have been Hello WordPress, not Hello World, since the latter reminds me of C programming during those terrible engineering years…
